"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song." Maya Angelou
The
imaginative brain that produces these pages enjoys and values the
creative interplay of word and mind, rationality and intuition, truth
and fiction. We are who we are on the inside, not the roles we perform
on the changing stages of our lives. We are true to others when we are our true selves. When we don't hide from
ourselves. When we accept and know ourselves. We speak true when we
express ourselves sincerely.
An
educator by profession, my academic interests are wide-ranging. Currently, my
principal research topics are online learning and neuroplasticity.
My
academic credentials include a B.Ed. and a Doctorate from the
University of Toronto. My doctoral thesis, The Politics of
Letters--Josˇ Mart’'s Revolutionary Discourse, critiques
the work of this nineteenth century poet, essayist, journalist, pensador,
revolutionary, and visionary who is revered in Cuba, honoured in the
Americas, and celebrated in Spanish-language academic and cultural
institutions throughout the world.
Josˇ Mart’ believed in the potential for
human development as an inherent characteristic, and in the dignity and
equality of rights of every individual, as inalienable entitlements.
This is the domain of education, which enables an individual's personal
growth and development toward self-awareness, self-fulfillment, and
responsible citizenship in a democratic society.
This
belief
informs my work
developing relevant curricula and innovative approaches to
learning, my engagement with students and colleagues on campus and
other workplaces, and my writing.
The
Ask Pamba project - the Ask Pamba Pages and the Ask Pamba Blog - spring
from my commitment to ongoing renewal and collaborative work in all
areas of education and learning. The Word and Mind project - the Mart’ papers, other academic articles, and various writings - are the
product of passion, curiosity and commitment to positive change in all areas of life. The inventive pieces are as true as
life. The iPamba Blog clarifies the mind, feeds the soul, and shares meaningful insights about life as it happens. The Pambacom project connects education to the world and to the workplace. My Pambacom Blog will draw attention to innovative, game-changing insights, and Pamba Communications, a professional enterprise, is words at work, because work makes all else possible.
Welcome to my Website. I look forward to your questions, feedback, comments, and contribution to these pages.
